Staying Healthy Can Save You a Lot of Money

September 2 2011, No Comments

Did you know that going to the doctor or a professional in medicine can cost you a lot of money? Yes, and it is a harsh reality to confront for those who ignore the importance of a healthy lifestyle. The result of a poor health can often mean your hard earned cash is spent curing you ills, rather than paying for things you find fun and enjoyable. Not only are the problems of poor health financial, medical conditions mean lots of unnecessary medicine and the potential development of life threatening diseases or disorders. So, how can you avoid all this sickness and save money in the process? Well, it’s simple. You just have to stay healthy!

So, what do you have to do to stay healthy? Here are some top tips:

1. Vegetables and fruits are your best friends in terms of making you and your wallet healthy. Why? Well, vitamins and other supplements tend to give you nutrients, too, but vegetables and fruits are all natural and are much cheaper. Regular eating of these nutritious foods will grant you a longer life and a healthy body and the ability to fight off the illnesses, which lead to massive medical bills.

2. Stay away from dangerous vices that can damage your body, such as alcohol drinking, smoking, and drugs. These vices damage almost every part of your body, organs, teeth and so on. If you are planning to stop, stop now, before any permanent damaged is caused. Addiction is expensive, both in the purchase of the vices and in the medical and dental bills you are sure to incur as your health declines.
3. Exercise is great for toning muscles and is the best way to improve blood circulation, which aids the functions of every organ in your body. If your body is healthy and able to fight off illnesses and diseases you will therefore avoid expensive medical bills and the saved cash can pay for a holiday or a new car. Exercise doesn’t have to be expensive and a mere 30 minutes of walking a day is more than enough to keep you fit and healthy.

4. Sleep early and don’t allow stress to take over. Going to bed at a regular hour and getting between 7-8 hours of sleep a night is a great way to revitalise your body and boost your overall health. When you wake after a good night’s rest your body is rejuvenated and ready to combat any untoward viruses or bacteria, therefore leaving you free of medication and doctor bills. Sleep is also completely free!

5. Maintaining your dental health through a regular dental hygiene regime will ensure that decay and gum disease will be kept at bay, as will the dentist’s medical bill. The replacement of lost teeth, with dentures, bridges and dental implants can be incredibly expensive and can be easily avoided if you simply:

  • Brush your teeth for 2 minutes twice a day.
  • Rinse your mouth out with mouthwash rather than water.
  • Floss between your teeth at least 3 times a week.

So, if you follow these tips, all those trips to the doctors and all those heavy payments and medical bills will be avoided. Maintaining your health can indeed save you money!
