6 Beauty Products You Can Make at Home
Beauty products can cost a small fortune, and when you take a chance and try something new, you may not even like the product, making the expenditure an even bigger waste of money. A great way to save a bit is to make your own skincare products. Not only will you be saving money, but you will know exactly what is in the product being applied to your body.
Oatmeal Facial Scrub
Facial scrubs are a great way to revive your skin. When you use a facial scrub, you are not only cleaning your face but you are removing the dead skin to reveal a fresh look and feel. Buying facial scrubs can be quite expensive, and some commercial scrubs can be very hard on your skin. You can make your own facial scrub with a few simple kitchen ingredients. You will need 28 grams (2 tablespoons) of each of the following: oatmeal, brown sugar, and pure aloe vera gel. Mix these ingredients with 5 milliliters (1 teaspoon) lemon juice. Mix all of the above ingredients together. This cleanser can last for up to four days if it is refrigerated.
Strawberry Facial Moisturizer
This is a recipe for a safe and gentle moisturizer that can be used on your face and neck on a daily basis. The mix calls for 14 grams (1 tablespoon) of each of the following: olive oil, coconut oil, and vegetable oil. You will also need 28 grams (2 tablespoons) of mashed strawberries and 1 drop of vitamin E oil. Mix all of the ingredients together well. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator in a tightly sealed container for up to two weeks.
Honey Lemon Body Scrub
Using a good body scrub is a great way to exfoliate your entire body. You can make your own honey lemon scrub with 567 grams (2 1/2 cups) sugar, 158 milliliters (1/2 cup) sweet almond oil, 20 milliliters (4 teaspoons) lemon juice, 57 grams (4 tablespoons) honey, and 4 drops of lemon essential oil. Combine the first three ingredients until blended. Then, slowly add the remaining ingredients, blending well. Use this recipe at least three times a week to renew your skin and make it soft.
Moisturizing Hair Mask
Hair products can be quite expensive, and many are full of chemicals. Homemade treatments can be just as effective, and are much safer and cheaper when you use ingredients from your kitchen. If you have dry hair, you can give it a softer, more manageable texture with the following mask. Mix 113 grams (1/2 cup) of honey and 45 milliliters (3 tablespoons) of olive oil together well and work into your hair immediately. Leave the mixture on for five minutes and then rinse well with lukewarm water.
Make-up Remover
Many commercial make-up removers have harsh chemicals in them that can harm and dry out your skin. Milk, on the other hand, has been proven to safely moisturize your skin and works great for removing make-up. You will need 79 milliliters (1/3 cup) of water and 42 grams (3 tablespoons) of powdered milk, mix these ingredients until they reach a thick consistency. Apply the make-up remover to your face using a wet washcloth. Rinse well afterwards.
Chocolate Lip Gloss
The smell of chocolate can improve your mood. Chocolate is also very good for your skin. It helps keep your skin nourished, moisturized, and protected. This is an easy recipe to make your own chocolate lip gloss. You will need 42 grams (3 tablespoons) of cocoa butter, one drop of vitamin E oil, and five chocolate chips.
Place the ingredients in the top of a double boiler and warm over medium heat. Once all of the ingredients have melted, remove the pan from the heat and stir the mixture well using a wooden spoon. Pour into a sterilized container and refrigerate until hard.
